Central Office of Information (COI) and The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA)

The COI commissioned Alex to audit DEFRA’s agricultural shows across the UK to assess how well DEFRA was communicating with its rural stakeholders. This two-year project culminated in a report presenting a cost effectiveness strategy for future exhibitions.

COI Framework

Alex worked on a number of COI framework agreements for Nine Yards, the international event production company, enabling it to participate in tendering opportunities.

Department of Culture Media and Sport (DCMS)

This limited-edition book was created for the families of British victims of 9/11. Alex wrote the text and obtained messages from HRH The Prince of Wales, The Ambassador of the United States and the Prime Minister. She also managed all aspects of book’s design, photography and production. The book opens by recording the physical labour of manufacturing elements of the site and then evokes the landscape architect’s symbolic vision for the planting. It culminates in a gatefold photograph of the plaques listing the names of those who died.

The Millennium Dome

The ‘Dome Visitor Guide’ was the Dome’s biggest retail revenue earner in the operating year. Alex wrote the text, negotiating with a large number of sponsors and stakeholder groups, whilst maintaining the integrity of the text as a whole. The book was produced to extremely tight deadlines, going to print before the exhibits had been completed.

As Content Editor, Alex also oversaw the creation of ten dome installations, working with clients including DeBeers, English Partnerships, The Environment Agency, The Millennium Commission, The Royal Mint and Thames Water.

The Design Council

The Design Council set up Millennium Products to find and promote examples of the best design, creativity and innovation in UK business. Alex worked as Brand Manager on the initiative, developing the tone of voice for the entire initiative as well as drafting the Prime Minister’s speech for the live televised launch.

Intellectual Property Office

Alex undertook a feasibility study on publishing possibilities to help the Intellectual Property Office forward-plan marketing activity to maximise significant milestones and anniversaries.
