Barking Riverside planning documents

Barking Riverside Ltd (a partnership between English Partnerships and Bellway Homes) employed Alex to produce planning documents for the largest residential development in the Thames Gateway which will become home to 26,000 people over the next 25 years. Consulting with architects Sheppard Robson and Maccreanor Lavington, landscape architect Gustafson Porter, engineer Hyder Consulting and streetscape designer JMP Consultants, Alex established a coherent written style for the project and produced three design statements which were submitted as planning condition documents

Nine Yards

Nine Yards is an international event production company which undertakes engineering, construction and site management in industry sectors ranging from public events to festivals and TV. Projects include the Olympic Handover Ceremony, V Festival, T4 on the Beach and the BRITS. Alex was commissioned to write a website which would demonstrate the company’s capabilities across the industries in which it operates, as well as to write tender documents for the company.

Just Add Water

Just Add Water creates transformative experiences for companies, helping them improve their ability to function as teams. Alex wrote technical pitch documents for a number of projects for BP and TFL, submitting them through their web-based systems.

‘Watercycle’ a Thames Water installation

Thames Water employed designers IDEO to create a walk-through installation giving views into the water treatment plant at the Dome. Alex worked with Thames Water engineers and environmental specialists to make their messages about water use and recycling accessible to the general public. The messages were used across the entire Dome site.

‘Dome’

This book, intended as an alternative visitor guide for people interested in structures and design, was published by Booth Clibborn Editions. Alex worked with architect Richard Rogers and engineer Buro Happold to develop sound bites capturing the design impetus for the creation of the Dome.

'The Millennium Dome'

Alex oversaw the creation of this book published by Harper Collins detailing the design and construction of the Dome. The process involved overseeing Elizabeth Wilhide’s interview programme, checking text and managing approvals at every level, in order to ensure the editorial integrity of the publication.
